Murj® has previously explored why advisory management is such an essential part of cardiac device care and the challenges clinics face when safety notifications arise. The critical nature of this work was recently underscored by a high-profile safety advisory.

At the end of July, Boston Scientific announced an advisory for a widely used defibrillator lead, requiring clinics nationwide to efficiently identify and follow up with affected patients. For care teams, this highlighted the importance of determining who was impacted and how to appropriately respond.

Traditionally, this process involves days or weeks of manual record searches and cross-referencing—time-consuming work that can strain already busy teams and delay critical outreach.

A rapid, platform-driven response

For Murj customers, the experience was different. Within 48 hours of receiving advance notice, Murj released a custom advisory dashboard inside our platform. This capability enabled clinics to:

  • Immediately identify all impacted patients across their population, regardless of where the device was implanted.
  • Stratify results by clinical risk factors to prioritize follow-up for the most vulnerable patients.
  • Export verified patient lists to guide outreach and streamline documentation.

By consolidating what would have been a significant manual workload, care teams were able to respond in a timely and organized way, putting patient safety at the forefront.

Impact of a coordinated response

Through the custom advisory dashboard built for this single event, Murj customers were able to identify:

  • 24,295 impacted patients (Of more than 750,000+ CIED patients managed on Murj)
  • 141 patients whose impacted lead had a low voltage shock impedance exceeding 150 ohms (highest risk category)
  • 3,323 patients whose impacted lead required additional considerations

These insights provided clinics with clear, actionable information to manage the advisory efficiently and safely.

The future of advisory management

Events like these reinforce Murj’s commitment to transforming the advisory management process. Our goal is to replace administrative uncertainty with the complete confidence that every patient is accounted for. We believe that by providing the tools to prioritize care with clinical insight, we empower your team to move from reaction to resolution, enabling a streamlined response that keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on your patients.
